about

this is a poem that was written on a three-hour drive to stay awake.
the music happened during a pracitce on a very warm day after (or right before, i can't remember) we ate a bunch of pizza.

lyrics

We've been here before,
Curled up on the sidewalk, I whisper this to the moon, to myself.
I can't remember being this low before, but I say that every time.
I think that every time.
We've been here before,
Scratching at the thin layer of blue paint on the wall in the guest bedroom, my stomach flips.
And then I'm made out to be the one who hurts, after all is said and done, there is nothing to win, the sun sings in your favor.
And then I'm made out to be the one who hurts.
And then I hurt.
I calm the headache with sleep and empty fights,
and I'm the one who hurts.

And it makes so much sense to find myself here again,
After all is said and done, I'm the one who hurts.
After all is said and done, I'm the one who hurts.
And everything that I've said, is all above me now,
And one is real.
So rest your little voice
for something a little better.

I'm the one who hurts,
I'm the one who hurts,
I'm the one who hurts.
